citygate uk conference 2008

CityGate is about learning to think Biblically concerning every area of life and society: from family to the media, education to business and the environment, government to arts and entertainment. All these domains of society, far from being "secular," are rooted in the character of God as revealed in the Bible, and can reflect his glory even in a fallen world.

Is business a dirty word? Is science something to be scared of? What is the importance of family life? Has western individualism eroded community living? Is church more important to God than work? We grapple with these questions from God’s perspective and leave you with an understanding of how to read the Bible in the context of the morning newspaper.

"Martin Luther is noted as having said that a gospel that does not deal with the issues of the day is not the Gospel at all.”

”There was a time when the church was very powerful... In those days the church was not merely a thermometer that recorded the ideas and principles of popular opinion; it was a thermostat that transformed the mores of society.”

Martin Luther King in his letter from Birmingham jail, April 1963
